Just In: Boat Passengers Robbed, Stranded on Sea, call for urgent help.

Indications have emerged from a viral video posted on Facebook about passengers (all female) who are reportedly stranded after being robbed by gunmen on Sea.

In the video, one of the ladies was seen calling for urgent help, as they couldn't tell their exact location at the moment.

According to the lady doing the narration, they were on their way to Oron, Akwa Ibom State, from Calabar, Cross River State when they were intercepted and robbed by the gunmen. After dispossessing them of their valuables, the criminals took away the boat Rider and all the male passengers, leaving them alone in the boat stranded and in need of urgent rescue.

In her words, "please, if you guys have seen this video on my status, we need help. Just raise an alarm. I'm going for a wedding in Akwa Ibom, we were robbed. Some gunmen came and took all the men and the driver away. We are just here, the Rev Sister and all the ladies, please we need help, we are across the sea and we don't know this place..."

However, from information available as at the time of filling this report, it is unclear as to how many passengers were on board the boat, but from the video showing the stranded passengers, no fewer than six female passenger were seen.

The spate of criminal activities on our waterways in recent times have become increasingly worrisome and a serious cause for concern. We can only hope that the authorities will swing into action as fast as possible to put an end to this menace.
